PA6 (Polyamide 6) Material PA6, or Polyamide 6, is a high-performance cast thermoplastic engineered for demanding mechanical environments. It is defined by a unique balance of exceptional hardness and elasticity, making it a cornerstone material for precision engineering. In the sealing industry, PA6 is the material of choice for guide, back-up, and support elements. Its high load-bearing capacity and natural lubricity allow for superior sliding ability, ensuring reliable performance in dynamic applications where friction and wear are constant challenges. By replacing traditional metal components with PA6, operators can significantly reduce machine noise and extend maintenance intervals, as the polymer absorbs vibration and resists galling. However, the application of PA6 requires careful environmental consideration. Because the material is hygroscopic, it has a natural tendency to absorb moisture. In aqueous or high-humidity environments, this can lead to dimensional swelling and a reduction in mechanical strength. To ensure the EPM Guarantee of Quality, we recommend PA6 primarily for dry-running applications or those shielded from fluid saturation.
